The school operates a 30 period week (50 minute lessons) with the teaching commitment for Faculty and College leaders being 24. All other staff teach 25 periods per week. At present the school day starts at 8.45am and finishes at 3.30pm with four periods in the morning and two in the afternoon. There is a 50 minute lunch break for students.
Students are placed in mixed ability groups in Year 7, but thereafter each Faculty pursues its own policy - and a number of innovative ideas have been explored. Learning support in classes is extensive, and a Student Support Centre is used when appropriate.
Staying on rates beyond the age of 16 are above 65%. The Post 16 Centre is growing rapidly and numbers over 285 have now been established. Most AS and A2 levels are available at either Tuxford or within our local consortium of schools alongside a full range of vocational courses.
