Avoiding car chaos

The school allows parents to drive on site to drop off students, or to collect them. We do this against the advice of the county council, in consideration for people living in neighbouring properties and for other road users. However, some problems have been caused by inconsiderate drivers, so we need to remind everyone of the following:

  • Parents dropping or collecting students are asked to take the second turning on the left after the entrance gates. Go to the mini-roundabout at the end, turn, then drop off as close to the junction as possible.
  • Don't use the road in front of the flagpoles unless you are dropping or collecting a child with mobility issues, e.g. using crutches following a leg injury.

There are a few simple restrictions that we ask everyone to observe:

  • There is a 5 mph speed limit on site.
  • Please don't obstruct buses or taxis. Avoid using the bus road for dropping and collecting.
  • Please don't park on zebra crossings or hatched areas reserved for emergency vehicles.
  • Please give way to other motorists at on-site junctions.

Reducing the number of cars would be difficult as 40% of the school's intake is from out-of-catchment. However staggered arrival would make life easier for all. If you arrive at school slightly later in the afternoon (i.e. at 3.42pm) all the buses and other parents will have left.
