National Tuxford Learning Community welcomes a new member

Over the past three years we have enjoyed a very successful partnership with The National C of E School, Hucknall (The National Tuxford Learning Community).  During this time, Tuxford School has moved forward from being a 'Good' school to being judged recently by Ofsted as 'Outstanding.'  Throughout the same period, the National School has moved out of its 'Notice to Improve' to 'Satisfactory' and was judged in its latest inspection (January 2010) to be "Good".  Now I am very pleased to report that the partnership is about to be extended as we are joined by Retford Oaks High School from September 2010 - pending the successful outcome of our planning process which is now well underway.

Our aim as a Learning Community will be to work closely together to raise standards further - ultimately achieving 'Outstanding' in all three schools.  This is a very exciting development which will significantly benefit all students and staff as we strive to deliver a 'world class' education.

Of course Retford Oaks, National and Tuxford Schools will continue to retain their own individual identities and to develop further their own unique characteristics in serving their respective communities.

Mr Geoff Lloyd will continue the excellent job he has done in his role as Head Teacher of Tuxford School with specific responsibility for the day to day leadership.  I will continue in my role of Executive Headteacher which will be extended across all three schools.  My focus, in addition to developing the Learning Community, will be to work closely alongside the headteacher in each school with a specific focus upon providing the broader vision, strategic development, quality assurance, improved standards and raised achievement and staff development for the people within the organisations.

Please note, in case you were wondering, that admissions to the three schools will NOT be affected in any way whatsoever and current admissions arrangements will continue exactly as they are at the moment.

I hope you all enjoy a well-deserved Easter break.

Chris Pickering
