The memorial garden beside Sherwood Wing is being developed rapidly now that better weather has arrived. It has been fenced and a path has been made and soon when shrubs are in place, it will be an attractive and distinctive feature enjoyed by all.
Members of the Garden Club, have been helping Mr Pete Andrews to prepare the space. Jenny Taylor is co-ordinating this project. They drew up plans and started work in November last year. The students have been helping Pete each week whenever possible.
The totem pole in memory of Liz Adey that used to stand beside the school drive, has been done up by Pete Andrews. There are going to be two more totem poles designed and worked by Jason Thompson, an artist from Sheffield. Julie Hollins from Transform gave Pete the name. Transform will sponsor and pay for Jason.
Mosaic paving around the totem poles is being prepared by students in our Inclusion department. Four benches from the winter gardens are being transferred to the Memorial Garden. Two have been teak oiled by the above named students and two remain to be done.
Four trees are to be planted, a silver birch donated by the PTA and a flowering cherry and two acers provided by school. Families of the people remembered are donating shrubs to go in the garden.
