Cover Supervisors
We have a team of six Cover Supervisors working at Tuxford School:

and

Miss E Hudson

Miss N Harris who are Cover Supervisors and Learning Coaches.
The job titles of "Cover Supervisor" is quite new in UK schools - Tuxford being one of the first to implement them. We are primarily used to cover short-term absences of teachers. The absences might be known in advance or unexpected.
On a daily basis cover supervision is likely to include:

Supervising work that has been set in accordance with school policy.

Managing the behaviour of pupils while they are undertaking this work.

Responding to questions asked by pupils relevant to the work set.

Dealing with any emergencies.

Collecting work and returning it to appropriate teachers
Our role also includes the responsibility of managing the locker keys for all pupils - replacing lost keys and ordering new ones.
The latest task we have acquired is to man the CCTV cameras at lunch times to make sure everything is running smoothly in and around school.
Working as a cover supervisor can be extremely rewarding but also very demanding as we have a high level of responsibility.
